Food Exchange List and 1 Unit of Exchange
The Korean “Food Exchange System” is a table made up of six different food groups. Food groups were divided based on similar nutritional compositions of each food.

The six food groups include: grains, fish, vegetables, fat and lipid, dairy, and fruits.

To be able to exchange the nutritional value of a certain amount of food within the same group, a standard unit of measure was implemented. Replacing one food with another is measured in units known as “1 unit of exchange”.
